Your Trip to the Fox & Anchor

As Samuel Johnson famously said, “when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life.” And it holds up to this day. Using our boutique hotel as a base, you can reach anywhere in London. Whether it’s a stroll down to St Paul’s Cathedral or a few minutes on the tube to catch a show at the famous West End theatres.

Barbican Conservatory

Enjoy a lazy afternoon at the second largest conservatory in London.  Peruse over 2,000 species of tropical plants, trees and fish at your own leisure, or book onto one of their many daily tours.

Smithfield Market

Smithfield Market provides a colourful link to an age when the quality of British beef was a symbol of national virility and good humour.  Early risers can still find meat and poultry traders setting up their stalls at first light inside the ornate arched ceiling. Be sure to explore the bizarre colour scheme and boutique eateries.

St Paul’s Cathedral

An iconic institute of London that you cannot miss. St Paul’s is a ten minute walk away from the front door of the Fox & Anchor. Steeped in history, opening in 1708, the architecture is incomparable to anything else. Walk to the top of St Paul’s to have an amazing view of the entirety of London.

Museum of London

Step inside the Museum of London for an unforgettable journey through the capital’s turbulent past.  Discover prehistoric times, the Romans and Saxons and more recently the tumultuous medieval age where London was ravaged by civil wars, plagues and fire.

Charles Dicken’s Museum

Just a 20 minute walk from the hotel is the museum, library and house of one of the world’s most famous writers.  See where he wrote his famous books, and gain great insight into how the Victorians lived, viewing Dickens’ original belongings.

Shoreditch & Hoxton

Nestled a short stroll from us are the bustling, hip areas of Shoreditch and Hoxton.  Much like those who frequent our cocktail bar, The Vestry, you’ll find young creatives in the trendy coffee shops and bars, surrounded by brick walls plastered with bright murals.

The Blood and Tears Walk

Known for being one of the best walking tours in London, thousands have travelled to walk the chilling yet entertaining tour over the past 18 years.  With the tour guides having appeared on TV, you’ll be sure to have a great time learning about Jack the Ripper, witchcraft and conspiracy theories from the 19th Century.

Our Restaurant

Our booths, previously for patrons who preferred to be seen in the bar. Ladies would often enjoy a private drink in the snug in a time when it was frowned upon for women to be in a pub.
